Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans
To limit the disruption of business in the event of an emergency declaration the development of a business continuity plan is key. This plan includes four steps. 1) Conducting a business impact analysis 2) Identify, document, and implement to recover critical functions and process. 3) Organize a continuity team and create a mitigation plan to manage business disruption 4) Conduct continuity team training.

Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans (CEMP) and Emergency Operations Plans (EOP)
Emergency Operations Plans are plans that define the scope of preparedness and emergency management activities necessary for that jurisdiction. The EOP structures and concepts that follow provide an example for jurisdictions to use when developing any plan. The EOP format works well for both conventional and complex emergency operations CEMP - Comprehensive Emergency Management Planning, a long-range plan consisting of key components such as, Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and Continuity of Operations plan (COOP).

Continuity of Operations and Continuity of Government Plans
An effort within individual executive departments and agencies to ensure that Primary Mission Essential functions continue to be performed during a wide range of emergencies, including localized acts a nature, accidents and technological or attack-related emergencies. The end goal being continuity of National Essential Functions.
Crisis Management and Crisis Communications Plans
Process by which an organization deals with a disruptive and unexpected event that threatens to harm the organization or its stakeholders. This primarily focuses on the gathering of, coordination, and timely dissemination of crisis related information and opinion to affected parties in order to protect and defend.
Emergency Action Plans (EAP)
Used across multiple sectors. It a formal document that identifies potential emergency conditions across various sectors of government, private, public industries and outlines specific actions to be followed to minimize the loss of life and property damage. At minimum the EAP will include
a) Actions to be taken to minimize or alleviate the issue
b) Actions to take to assist emergency personnel
c) Early warning procedures
d) Maps for personnel egress and potential areas to be affected.
e) Responsibilities of all involved personnel managing the emergency/incident.
Evacuation, Shelter, Re-entry, and other Mass Care Plans
Documents to support state, local, tribal, and territorial partners in planning for evacuation and/or shelter in place protective measures. A comprehensive plan outlining the situations that jurisdiction should consider when planning evacuation and/or shelter in place operations.

Provides disaster preparedness and response services and advanced planning measures designed to reduce the amount of damage caused by an impending disaster.

Special and National Security Event Plans
Most effective strategies for emergency management are federally supported and executed by the immediate authority of a jurisdiction. As disasters unfold, individuals and local government serve as the first responders to triage the incident and stabilize the situation. It is because of this dynamic, that planning, and exercise are key to improve response time and effectiveness of each jurisdiction charged with the safety, and guidance of their sector.
